Valentine’s Party at MCC!

Roses are Red… and Violets are Blue… Mid-County is filled with love…by people like you!  Walking around stores and seeing the red and pink hearts, greeting cards, candy displays, and cute teddy bears we saw the spirit everywhere this year. We recognize that Valentines Day is just as much for romantic love as it is for friendship, so we hoped to bring it to our own Center – and thanks to our members, we sure did!

Mid-County Center wanted to make this year’s holiday party special – and thanks to our new Social Events Committee, it was a hit! Kicking off with Valentine’s Day Bingo, we had four winners collect prizes, and over 30 players participate. Then, our favorite DJ Miguel came to liven the place up with song and dance. Singing hits that got the members up and moving, Miguel sure put on a show. Then, when we least expected it, we were so surprised to see a group formed of Mahjong Ladies – dawning matching sashes and bracelets created by Pat Fullerton – had secretly partnered with fitness instructor Nancy to perform a Flash Mob Style dance recreating the Rockettes. As Miguel serenated “New York, New York”, the ladies got up and showed off their hidden dance skills.

Afterwards, we played “Name the Love Song,” and a Mid-County favorite JackPot Bingo followed lunch.  Overall, members said, “It was the best party we had!” and were already asking, “When will there be another one?”

Staff loved seeing the comradery of members bringing various snacks and desserts to liven up the party atmosphere and the friendships that were showcased. When one member of the MCC who helped plan the Rockette flash mob was injured and could not participate in the dance, they picked her up and drove her to and from the center, making sure she could be present. This is exactly the relationships we strive and wish to achieve at MCC.  A perfect way on Valentine’s Day show how much you care.

Interested in attending future events like this? Stay tuned… Our next holiday party will be on Tuesday, April 15th starting at 9am as we celebrate Spring and hopefully some warmer weather. Think about what dessert you want to bring to the holiday party!
